Subwoofer box that I got second hand loaded with a 15” mtx dvc sub. Decided to see why it rattled and sounded like ass. This is what I found. Staples were used instead of screws, and the glue was long gone if there ever was any. As a result I was able to pull the carpet off with my hands and then just grab and pull the panels right off. No tools required, and now I have a shitty pile of precut particleboard to make into a slightly better sub enclosure. Yay!

Why not just kill the particleboard and go to birch ply now? It will sound better.

“Please don’t do this”:

1.) Obtain subwoofer

Roger that; thanks for the tip. I’ll have no trouble complying.

Because I’m poor. I’ve got a box of wood screws. I don’t have birch ply and a jigsaw

Predrill for your wood screws and apply wood glue after roughing the surfaces slightly and put it back together, cheap subwoofer! The youtube pro’s nail-gun their boxes too, because once the glue binds you shouldn’t need the screws to hold it together.

Yep. This would be the second box I “built”. I quickly found the necessity of predrilling holes

It seems that the previous owner was very meticulous in his work.

This is very probably a store bought $50 piece of crap. Good for a couple years, till the glue cracks. Dunno why you’d get a $400 sub and out it in such a shit box
